Amanda Means’s artwork reflects a sense of nature in this crowded urban environment.  Means continues to explore the duality of natural and human-built environments, exploring how the mysterious presence of natural forces can be found even in small mass-produced objects.  Means received her BA from Cornell University and later studied with Ralph Gibson.
Amanda Means’s work is represented in numerous important collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; MIT List Visual Arts Center, Boston; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY; Avon Collection of Women Photographers, NYC; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; The Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada; and the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, England.

All lots are sold “AS IS” and without recourse and neither PROOF nor its consignor(s) make any warranties or representations, express or implied with respect to such lots. All items are available for examination at PROOF prior to bidding. 

When placing a bid, a bidder is accepting personal liability to pay the purchase price, including the buyer’s premium, all applicable taxes and all other applicable charges. If you are the winning bidder, you will be contacted within 48 hours of the close of the auction.

In addition to the hammer price, the buyer agrees to pay PROOF a buyer’s premium added to the final total. The buyer’s premium for all purchases made on Bidsquare is 5%.

Payment is required within five business days of the auction. Payment in U.S. dollars may be made with cash; bank check or cashier’s check drawn on a U.S. bank; money order; or wire transfer. PROOF reserves the right to hold merchandise purchased by personal check until the check has cleared the bank. 

Once PROOF has received payment in full, the buyer shall contact PROOF to arrange shipping or pick-up. Shipping, handling and insurance charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
